What are CTST's?

Our Mission

Local Efforts

The goal of the Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTST) is to reduce the number of traffic crashes, the number of traffic-related fatalities, and the number and severity of injuries that result from traffic crashes. The teams utilize a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates the 4 E's of traffic safety:

  • Engineering
  • Enforcement
  • Education
  • Emergency Services

FDOT District 5 is comprised of 9 counties:  Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Sumter, Seminole, and Volusia.  We have 10 CTST's, including 2 teams in Volusia County (representing East and West Volusia). Each team is unique in their focus on the traffic issues most relevat to their community.  Membership is comprised of engineers, law enforcement and emergency services personnel, education specialists, and traffic safety advocates, from both the publc and private sectors.

Visit your county's team page to learn more about the traffic safety efforts going on in your community.  Better yet, get involved! Join a team and help make a difference.

Statewide

There are 69 teams throughout the state of Florida.   Teams also gather once every quarter, as the CTST State Coalition, to share ideas and information about their local efforts.
