Officer Pete Stephens of the University of Central Florida Police Department has long been an advocate of safety and has gone above and beyond in his efforts to help keep the public safe. Prior to being a member of UCF's police department, Officer Stephens retired from Maitland Police Department. As an active member of Orange County's Community Traffic Safety Team, Officer Stephens was notorious for thinking outside the box and assisting with the design and implementation of clever traffic safety details that generated a lot of publicity. In addition to Officer Stephens' traffic safety efforts, he teaches personal safety/self-defense classes, educates faculty members on active shooter scenarios, and raises public awareness of general crime prevention tips.
Today, Officer Pete Stephens was honored with the United Safety Council's Law Enforcement Award for his continued dedication to public safety. Congraulations to Officer Stephens on a well deserved honor!
